Bali to Komodo Seaplane: relay legs, not a scheduled flight
As of September 2026 there is no scheduled, ticketed Bali–Komodo seaplane. The route is flown on request as a private, full-aircraft charter: a relay of legs from a South-Bali water base through Lombok and Sumbawa to a Komodo-area bay. The operator publishes Bali→Lombok and Bali→Sumbawa times; the final leg is quoted per charter.

Relay or airline? A fit check, not a timetable
Set four things and read two facing step-lists — the seaplane relay against the DPS–LBJ airline plus boat. Each step carries its handover, and each time segment is tagged Published (operator figure, indicative) or Not published (quote only). The verdict is plain, including when the airline is the honest answer. Constants as of Sep 2026. No price is computed.

Verdict
Airline is the honest answer for a plain A-to-B.
For a hotel-to-hotel move with no water finish, the 1h10–1h25 DPS–LBJ flight with 8–12 departures a day beats a three-leg relay with two exchange zones. Keep the seaplane for the day a bay is the destination.
- Fixed costs outside the charter: Bali tourist levy IDR 150,000 per foreign visitor (Perda Bali 2/2025) and e-VOA IDR 500,000 (2026).
Money line: full-aircraft charter, quoted per route. This tool never computes a price.

Two dated columns. Left: the operator's indicative Bali-departure legs and the one Komodo leg nobody publishes. Right: the DPS–LBJ airline reference from 2026 guides. No total is invented in either column.

Exchange-zone checks, and what is fixed against what is quoted
A relay is only as good as its exchange zones. Each one is a set of checks, not a lounge. Below them, the cost block separates the few fixed lines from everything that is quoted per route.
Exchange Zone 1 · Lombok
Fuel and positioning are confirmed before departure from Bali. The Lombok stop is a technical exchange: no scheduled ground handling exists for a Komodo relay, so it is built per charter.
Exchange Zone 2 · Sumbawa (Poto Tano)
Poto Tano is the operator's published Sumbawa point (~50 min from Bali). From here the last leg to a Komodo-area bay is the one no operator publishes; the desk quotes it after the landing point is confirmed.
Arrival bay · Komodo area
Three drop types: Labuan Bajo bay, a resort bay, or a yacht anchorage. Only an approved water-landing point counts; the fallback is always Labuan Bajo bay with a boat leg.
- Water-landing approval follows Indonesian water-aerodrome regulation, with KP 206/2021 as the safety standard; operations are daylight-only.
- Labuan Bajo (Komodo) is one of the Ministry of Transportation's 8 designated priority water-landing locations.
- Komodo National Park fees and permits apply on arrival; SIMAKSI covers special activities, and drone or aerial filming needs its own approval.
- Offload methods seen on this coast: dock, mooring plus boat, floating platform, or beach-ramp amphibious. Which one applies is a per-bay answer.

When a seaplane makes sense, and when it does not
Resort-to-resort
Bay to bay, no airport in between
What must be true
- The arrival bay is an approved water-landing point
- Party fits one aircraft (up to 8 in the marketed configuration)
- Departure sits inside the daylight window
Yacht rendezvous
Meet the boat, skip the harbour
What must be true
- The anchorage is approved, or the captain accepts a Labuan Bajo bay fallback
- Tender is ready alongside at the landing
- Sea state is inside the operator's limit
Private group / corporate
One aircraft, or rotations
What must be true
- Principals on one rotation; the wider group on rotations or an airline block
- A named coordinator on your side for the day-of brief
- Permits and park fees settled before the date
When it does not
Plain A-to-B: take the airline
- Hotel to hotel with no water finish
- Late international arrival into DPS
- Tight budget: fares are quoted per aircraft on request for one way journeys.

Questions people ask before they ask for a quote
Is there a scheduled Bali to Komodo seaplane?
No. As of September 2026 no operator publishes a scheduled Bali–Komodo seaplane service. The route is flown on request as a private, full-aircraft charter through Lombok and Sumbawa. The DPS–LBJ airline (1h10–1h25 airborne, 8–12 daily flights) is the scheduled option.
Can I buy a single seat or a ticket?
Not on this route. Operators market the amphibian (Cessna Grand Caravan 208B EX, typically up to 8 premium seats) as a full-aircraft charter. The tickets page explains charter versus seat-share honestly.
What does it cost?
There is no published Bali–Komodo price. The only dated anchor is the operator's Bali → Sumbawa (Poto Tano) full-aircraft figure, Rp 68,445,936 one way plus airport fees and tax (captured 18 Sep 2026) — one leg, not the route. Everything else is quoted: block hours, positioning, permits, tender, transfers, coordination fee. Fixed items outside the charter: Bali tourist levy IDR 150,000 and e-VOA IDR 500,000.
Can the seaplane land next to my yacht?
Only if the anchorage is an approved water-landing point under Indonesian water-aerodrome regulation. If it is not, the flight ends in Labuan Bajo bay and the captain's tender covers the rest. The desk confirms this before quoting.
Can I connect the same day from an international arrival?
Only with a morning arrival. Operations are daylight-only and the relay has two exchange zones. A late arrival means an overnight in Bali or the DPS–LBJ morning flight the next day. See Same-Day Flights (2026).
Can I fly a drone or film from the aircraft in Komodo?
Drone and aerial filming in Komodo National Park need separate approval on top of park fees; special activities fall under SIMAKSI. Ask before the date, not on the jetty.
